Cannon Beach

The teensy weensy rock you see to the left of my head (well, the bigger of the two) is the big haystack rock at Cannon Beach, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches along the Oregon coast. Though the rock looks teensy in the picture, up close it's like a mountain!

We had a lovely time, even though it rained off and on. We had a lovely adventure this morning at Cape Lookout. We drove up to a cliff and spent an hour zig-zagging our way down to a pristine, little stretch of beach with gazillions of beautiful, round rocks. Two very curious seals eyed us the whole time we perused, from the safety of the water. Then I had to haul my new rocks back up the cliff. Ugh.

  1. Sounds like heaven. :)) And I love your little birdie painting (the silverware is fantastic!) but I am admittedly too lazy to leave a comment on each post. This shall have to suffice. :D

  4. I'm so happy for you. Granted it was tough, but if you guys had to pick a new home, you couldn't have done better! Okay, I'll admit it... I'm obnoxiously jealous. The beaches of Oregon are truly my favorites in the the whole wide world. And the forests are the most beautiful. And the people are the best. And the... Well, I'm happy for you. And your pretty blue pot, too.

  5. Hey Carol. We too just made a pretty incredible transition from extreme dry high desert to the wonderful refreshing pacific blue. We actually live a block from the beach and I am still pinching myself. It was all worth the wait. I'm happy for us both. PS - picked up a pair of Barefoot shoes and love me! Thanks for mentioning them when you did the marathon.

  6. So happy you had this wonderful adventure. *grin* from a fellow rock collector. I've started piling them up at my doorsteps - the house is full of glass vases of them, windowsills lined with them, kitchen counter and bathroom counter filled with them. Hoarding, yes, but I can not NOT collect them!

  7. It's great that you took a few days to explore, find some great rocks, and "smell the roses" so to speak. Beautiful photo of you, and also of the beach. It looks so tranquil. The seals were probably hoping you might paint their portraits.

  8. Welcome to Eugene! Just wondering if you plan to do a workshop in Oregon sometime?

  9. Thanks everyone!! We really love Oregon. And rocks, yes Kelley, even though I had to start my collection over from scratch, you might already call me a hoarder of them!! : )

George, yes I do plan to teach in Oregon. My plan is to fulfill my current obligations (out until 2014) and then start doing them much closer to home, hopefully right here in Eugene!

    1. I would love to attend a workshop too when you are ready to have them closer to home. I'm only about 3 hours North of Eugene in Scappoose, OR.
I love seeing the kind comments from everyone about our great state. I'm an Oregon native and love it here.

  11. Reminds me of Nova Scotia and look at you needing a jacket and hat! No more tinderbox :D

  12. Carol, I see you have a windburn! Or is that exertion from carrying all your treasures? You need some of those pants that have all those pockets. You could put all the carry-homes in the pockets to get back to the car, hands free for climbing! Hum! But you might get all bruised up if your pants are too loose and the rocks go banging around on your ankles, knees and thighs!!!

  13. In July, August, and September, the weather should be sunny and warm, but not super hot like in Texas. It's a beautiful area of the country in which to live.

  14. So glad you are enjoying our (meaning all of us thanks to Gov.Oswald) beaches! I live on the beach 12 miles south of Cannon Beach, in Manzanita. Love Cannon Beach but Hug Point at low tide has captured my heart. Caves, picturesque cliffs, waterfalls spilling to the beach, not to mention the historic roadbed that juts over the water and is only passable at low tide where they used to "hug" the point to travel south. Hope you get another trip over here sometime with sketchbook, camera, and paints!

  16. Did you realize there is a 12 word phrase you can tell your man... that will induce deep emotions of love and impulsive appeal for you deep within his chest?

That's because hidden in these 12 words is a "secret signal" that triggers a man's instinct to love, treasure and protect you with his entire heart...

12 Words That Fuel A Man's Love Response

This instinct is so hardwired into a man's mind that it will drive him to work better than before to do his best at looking after your relationship.

Matter-of-fact, triggering this influential instinct is so important to having the best ever relationship with your man that the second you send your man one of these "Secret Signals"...

...You will immediately notice him expose his soul and mind for you in such a way he never experienced before and he will perceive you as the one and only woman in the galaxy who has ever truly appealed to him.
