Tired of Driving
Carol Here: This picture really sums up today. I am TIRED of driving. Tonight we are at a KOA outside of Sacramento. We got here around 4pm, which is an earlier day than usual. Still, it's been a lot of driving, and I'm excited that tomorrow we will finally see some different scenery. Our plan is to do just a little driving in the morning and then relax the rest of the day. That will put us in Oregon by Friday afternoon.
This picture was taken at the pool here at the KOA. There were signs saying no alcohol, and I will NOT admit to having wine in my cup. ; )

I so wish I could reach through the photo and give you a big bear hug.
ReplyDeleteIt was a really warm day here in N CA too, what a day to be on the road. So glad you'll be taking it easier tomorrow, and it's supposed to be quite a bit cooler. I was thinking about you during the day today, out there on I-5. I'm so glad you were able to get in early and stop seeing white dotted lines. Welcome to Northern California, even if it's only for a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be arriving at a great time. We've had cool, brisk fall weather here in Eugene. It's the best time of year in the Northwest. I hope you'll find Eugene well worth the long trip...and if you like wine, you'll LOVE King Estate Winery, which is only about 20 minutes away from your new digs. Eugene is a great place to live!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I love this photo! It is exactly how I would feel if I were driving as much as yall right now! I think you need a real rest soon and hopefully the trip won't be much longer. Can't wait to see where yall "land!" Thanks for keeping all your fans out here in blog land informed! You are in my thoughts and prayers every day!
ReplyDeleteCarol, you look like you need to sleep for about 3 days...thank you so much for keeping us posted. You have a lot of people out here in cyber land who are really pulling for you! Good luck on the last leg of your journey
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you lost everything in the fire, but what a great way to turn the bad into a good thing. Really, it sounds like a wonderful adventure and the PNW is such a grand place to be especially after the dryness of the south. I wish you all the love and luck in the world. It looks like you have a lot of the former!
ReplyDeleteOh, Baby! You need a good, comfortable bed, a sweet, cool breeze and a tall glass of the finest Riesling! Tomorrow will be better. xoxo
ReplyDeleteCarol - My heart goes out to you for your loss. I haven't posted anywhere for about 3 years, but I get your beautiful paintings in my email each night. Thank you for sharing your artist's soul and your refreshing outlook. You truly remind me that our lives are about creation and adventure. My best to you and your wonderful family.
ReplyDeleteYou have been in my thoughts and prayers Carol, what a huge ordeal you are going through!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are blogging this adventure. Lewis & Clark have nothing over you and David! Slow and steady wins the race...a little reisling helps to grease the wheels. Safe travels- you are almost there!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till you get there. We're a military family and we move all of the time. I can completely empathize!! Hope you get a little R&R and that the rest of trip is smooth sailing.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you on your incredible journey!
ReplyDeleteIf you enjoy Mexican food there is a string of restaurants along the Interstate 5 corridor in northernmost California called "Casa Ramos". The original one in Yreka is the best IMHO. It's the third (and last) Yreka exit, take a left at bottom of offramp and go west of 5 and you'll see it on your left. (No affiliation, just appreciate good food on my long trips)
Blessings to you all,
Lee
Oh boy! I feel for you - and this picture makes me feel SAD for you. But you are nearly there!!
ReplyDeletethis brings back memories when I moved from Corpus Cristi to Eugene in 1973 with a homemade camper on the back on an international harvester pick-up...good news is that you will love living in Oregon and taking a day to relax in the big forest will help you get excited for your next adventure...thanks for taking the time and effort to share your journey
ReplyDeleteThank GOD for solid colored mugs!
ReplyDeleteAnd I lOVE the shot of Jacob in his bones out the back of the camper...
THANKS for letting us all have a look at your lives! Your humor, grace and humilty and human-ness makes me be a better person!
xokat!
Eugene is pretty cool and I can get there by train! What a brave family you are; I'm exhausted following all the ups and downs, ins and outs. Aside from the tragedy of the fire, you must be so excited at the new prospects before you. The husband and the boy seem to be willing travelers; a good thing. Starting over is actually rathe rexciting...I've been through this at least three times. My best thoughts to you three. jb
ReplyDeleteI too want to say how I admire how your loss has turned into a new opportunity. You are an inspiration to all of us as you go through this time with such grace. You have lots of us wishing you the best on your journey. Here's to you! (that was a toast with a nice glass of wine)
ReplyDeleteRode hard and put away wet...with wine!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you are sharing this adventure with all of us, it really shows the resilience of the human spirit, and serves as inspiration for others who are going through similar changes, or will in the future! My Christmas gift from my fiance this year is your painting workshop in December, I can hardly wait!
ReplyDeleteYou look like I felt after two days driving last week from San Antonio to Las Cruses and then to Sedona. Keep up the good fight and we'll all be expecting to see photos of the new digs and a day-to-day photo journal of you transforming your large room into a nice, new studio. I can hardly wait until your next time on Leslie and Dreama's show to tell us about all the "fun" you had on this adventure.
