David here: We have been biding our time until we close on the house and can move in. It may be as soon as Tuesday but no later than Wednesday. It all depends on when the final insurance payment shows up in our account.
Here's a photo of the house from the front with Carol's studio on the other side of the wall of almost north facing windows. We'll have more photos of the place soon.
Here's Carol and her mini-me on our first trip to the coast. Carol was like a dog with a steak with all the rounded and smooth stones lying about completely undefended.
Here is Carol teaching Jacob the love of the rocks.
There is nothing slower than walking with Carol on a rock strewn beach!
It was cool and cloudy and rained all day long - we absolutely loved it!

There is nothing slower than walking with Carol on a rock strewn beach? Yes there is. Walking through a thrift store with my sweetie.
ReplyDeletecan't wait to get to those rocks. MOM
ReplyDeleteWow, what a gorgeous beach. I know Carol enjoyed it. Thanks for the update! I have wanted to take part in one of Carol's workshops forever, and I have been on many waiting lists....maybe one day......
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you guys! Oregon is so beautiful, and you are very lucky to finally be there! Thanks for the update of your new beginnings~
ReplyDeleteLovely forested home.
ReplyDeleteI am so sad for you guys' huge losses in the fire but I'm also a bit jealous of your fresh start. What an amazing adventure!
ReplyDeleteI wish all of you the best of everything wonderful and good in this new home. So sorry about the fire, but thankful that everyone is okay. Can't wait to see the silly faces.
ReplyDeleteThe new house looks great! Best wishes to you both and to Jacob for many happy times there.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteDavid, there is someone slower or at least at the same pace, me, lol... Yeah and a big woo hoo for the family unit loving it in Oregon. Great job, well done and all that.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to OR! The good news: It doesn't really get much worse than this, weather-wise. The bad news - it's going to be rainy almost every day from now until July! But then you will have the most gorgeous summer ever. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI swear that beach looks exactly like one I stopped at on my drive down Hwy 101 with my mom last year, if there was a big tree trunk laying across an inlet it was. But there were many places I stopped to tqke photos of the cypress trees growing over the cliffs, they all ran together! Im sure every beach looked the same. I am so jealous you get to live in Oregon! Beautiful countryside.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Oregon! We have been living in Camas, WA for about a year now (outside of Portland). The rain takes some getting used to but as an artist the scenery is always inspiring! I trust you will feel the same! Best of luck to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a fantastic change for you guys!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Thank you for sharing the photo of your house - now I can picture you all in it - happy! And Jacob had better get some shelves, for he is going to be a rock-collector extraordinaire! Good wishes for a smooth close and move. xoxo
ReplyDeleteFor Kelly McDonald's sake, visit Voodoo Doughnuts in downtown Eugene. Jacob won't mind either! Hope the close goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you all are safely to Oregon and that drive is over:) Happy to see you all out collecting rocks and enjoying some small happies. Love seeing the house and like Kelley can just picture y'all there happy and cozy. I always said that "home" was where Dave and my children were. That is what matters. Yay for you all and hope things keep clicking in place. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for all of you. Your house looks perfect. Best wishes for a delightful new life.
ReplyDeleteCarol, what a a great story, with a happy ending! I love it! Your new house looks wonderful, and Eugene is just beautiful! Best wishes to you and your family, for lots of beautiful days in your new home!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great house. Congratulations! Enjoy making it your home ;)
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful house.
ReplyDeleteIt does my heart good to see you at this beautiful beach (which is very Nova Scotia) and to know that you are living in a place with moist air and not roasting every single day!!
Very cool house! Beach and rocks... Owieeee, I would be slow going too! I'm glad to hear someone else LIKES a rainy cloudy day, nothing better in my opinion! Wishing you the best from SC...
